Hayao Miyazaki is a name that reverberates around the Otaku world as the creator of some of the most beloved and classic anime films to come out of Japan. Under the Studio Ghibli banner, Miyazaki has released such classics as Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Monoke and Spirited Away to name but a few. Breaking news today regarding the status of his new project which is getting a few tongues wagging with the reveal that he may be working on his own autobiography as his new project.
The news comes following the recent announcement from Studio Ghibli producer, Toshio Suzuki, at a meeting held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Japan in attendance by 200 people. The meeting was a “Hanashi o Suru Futari” discussion with actress, Tomoko Yamagughi. For those in the dark, Yamaguchi was in Miyazaki’s last movie, Ponyo, as Risa.
The news is still unconfirmed but all Suzuki did reveal was that Miyazaki is working on a biography, whether his own or adapting someone else’s is still unknown. But if he were to be working on his own, one can only hope and imagine that it would be an incredibly detailed and imaginative movie that Otakus would be flocking to 🙂
