Sony To Bring Assassin’s Creed To The Big Screen

Breaking news from the USA is reporting that Sony have won the right to adapt Ubisoft’s very successful title, Assassin’s Creed to the big screen. The deal is yet to be 100% finalised but the agreement between the two companies is a sure thing following the recent win by Sony in a bidding war which saw them taken on several Hollywood heavyweights, including Universal, and win.

Variety magazine reports that the movie will likely be co-produced and co-financed between Sony and Parisian based, Ubisoft Motion Pictures.

An Ubisoft spokesman was quoted as saying, “As we’ve stated before, Ubisoft is actively looking for film opportunities for our top brands. There is high interest from top Hollywood studios to collaborate on these brands.”

Sony has already done some pre-empting by registering 16 different Assassin’s Creed movie domain names.

No word as yet on which assassin will be featured in the movie or villain for that matter but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any info on the development of this movie.
