AKB48 will soon see one of their members starring and singing in the anime movie adaptation of Nerawareta Gakuen, a popular children’s science fiction novel from Taku Mayumura.
Mayu Watanabe also known by her nickname of Mayuyu, will be taking one of the lead roles by voicing Natsuki, seen in the image below to the far right, as well providing vocals for the theme song which is to be announced at a later time. Also co-starring in the movie will be Yuutaro Motoshiro, who last played Ao Fukai in Eureka 7: Astral Ocean.
Production is being handled by Sunrise Studio 8, responsible for Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, MY-HiME and Accel World, amongst others with directorial duties being handed to Ryosuke Nakmura. Meanwhile the opening theme song will be performed by supercell.
The film is due to hit Japanese cinemas on the 10th of November with the “Scotland Loves Animation” event playing host to the movie’s premiere. The website set up for the Scotland event has described the movie adaptation by saying, “Spring marks the start of another new school year at a junior high school in Kamakura. A new transfer student, Ryoichi Kyogoku joins the 8th grade. Kyogoku has a very special proficiency in telepathy and has been ordered by his father to use this ability to scan other people’s minds and take over the school.
He instantly gains popularity at school from his good looks and charisma and he sets about taking control of the school. As people begin to fall under Kyogoku’s spell, he covertly manipulates his followers and pushes aside anyone who gets in his way.
With the school almost completely under the control of Kyogoku, only one boy seems unaffected – Seki. Does Seki have what it takes to save everyone from the clutches of mind control?”
