The event that some people thought would never come has been finally announced by Sony in Japan.
Production of the Playstation 2 has finally ceased in Japan meaning that when the current stock runs out in Japan, you won’t be able to get a brand new one anymore. Sony warehouses will continue to ship the stock they have until the entire supply has been depleted.
It isn’t bad when you consider that the PS2 was launched back in 2000 in Japan and has lived way past its initial 10 year production run. Across the globe, 150,000,000 PS2 units have been sold with some countries, like Brazil, only having the system launch in 2009! New PS2 games will continue to be made until March 2013 such as the Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin expansion disc.
