Hard to believe but it was 25 years ago today that Studio Ghibli unleashed two classic movies onto the world from the two co-founders, Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. Those two movies were My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies.
With particular emphasis on Totoro, Miyazaki took influence from his childhood and the home his family had to move to during World War II and also his mother’s bout with spinal TB. My Neighbour Totoro with its tale of innocence involving forest spirits struck a chord with audiences around the world.
So a massive Happy Birthday to both films for having a lasting appeal and say Happy 25th!
