Sometimes things happen in the world that makes you, “Why did they do that?” And this one probably falls in that basket. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is being released today in North America and the Project Coordinator, Takeshi Yamanaka, shared some info on it via the Playstation Blog.
Despite the PS Vita having that amazing OLED screen which can display gorgeous widescreen visuals, they have chosen to display the game in a 4:3 aspect ratio as opposed to the Vita’s 16:9 natural ratio.
On this, Yamanaka said, “We did some research and played around with the camera to maximize the screen real-estate, but during all of our tests, the essence of Guilty Gear’s fighting style, which was, ‘Knock your opponent down, and go for the okizeme’ was inherently lost in the transition, we made the executive decision to keep the game in its native 4:3 resolution.”
He also mentioned some changes regarding some of the weaker characters in the game who have now been given weapons to balance them out and that the more stronger fighters had been adjusted as well.
