Evangelion Exhibition opens in Japan

Tokyo is currently host to a new exciting Evangelion exhibition. The event is being held at Matsuya Ginza, Tokyo with works on display totalling 1,300 and many original drawings form part of it.

Aside from the original drawings there are also comic’s copy drawings created by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, model sheets and approximately 30 new and never before seen drawings from, “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo”. The sales corner has the EVANGELION STORE GINZA” which is stocked up on limited pre-sale items as well as picture books.

The exhibition has no less than 4 different areas called chapters. “Chapter 1: History of Evangelion” groups together characters and stories which are broken down for beginners to Evangelion. There are also cel illustrations and manga drawings.

“Chapter 2: Making of Evangelion” features 5 minute battle scenes from “Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone”. More than 1000 items such as story boards, image boards, landscape layouts, moving images and original drawings. You’ll be able to witness the “actual field of film making” where the makers have devoted all their efforts which is on display to the public.

“Chapter 3: Settings of Evangelion” includes a life size statue of Rei Ayanami while “Chapter 4: ‘Rebuild of Evangelion” shows off artwork from featured scenes from 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

You can catch the exhibit between 10AM and 8PM, adults cost ¥1000 while uni/high school students are ¥700. The exhibit will run until August 26th. For more info, check out the Evangelion Exhibition website.
