Very late this week but back again, it’s Gaming Life in Japan. Time is short so let’s just jump straight into it!
Taking the top spot for software sales this week is a new entry with sales of well over 200k, Gran Turismo 6 for the PS3. And showing that the Wii still has life left in it, Dragon Quest X: The Sleeping Hero and the Guiding Sworn Friend Online takes out the 2nd spot. That ‘gotta catch ’em all’ mentality is still going strong with Pokemon X/Y taking out the 3rd spot.
Game based on successful anime Attack on Titan, sees the portable entry Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind for the 3DS taking the 4th spot. Another new entry for the 3DS, Inazuma Eleven Go Galaxy Big Bang / Supernova, takes out the 5th spot. The Wii U version of the Dragon Quest X game has managed to land safely in 6th spot. The Square Enix Final Fantasy entry, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, rounds out the top 10 with 21,600 units sold.
Let’s go and take a look at hardware sales where things this week are very interesting. The 3DS LL (XL) is still in top spot, not sure if that will ever change to be honest, but the Wii U has enjoyed a Herculean surge in sales to jump into the 2nd spot. This week the struggling console saw sales of over 48k compared to 28k last week. No doubt the release of Dragon Quest X: The Sleeping Hero and the Guiding Sworn Friend Online helped things along. The regular 3DS model and the PS Vita took out 3rd and 4th spot, respectively, both with healthy sales. Hopefully the healthy sales the Wii U is currently enjoying will stick around for a while. We’ll keep you posted as next week’s figures aren’t too far away.
