Gaming Life In Japan ~ 16/6/14 – 22/6/14

Let’s jump straight into a VERY late edition of Gaming Life in Japan!

The software chart tell us that Pokemon Art Academy for the 3DS took out the top spot with 31,080 units sold as a new entry. Second was Yokai Watch which refuses to leave the charts, this week selling 30,394 units which brings the grand total to over 1 million copies! Rounding out the top three is Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U with 28,112 units sold. Looking at only new entries, we see that the PS Vita has a title in number six with htoL#NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki from NIS. Another new entry from Namco Bandai for the PS3 is CV: Casting Voice in seventh position. And even though Japan is out of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, clearly some gamers are still reliving the excitement by keeping FIFA 14 for the PS4 at number ten.

Hardware sees the 3DS LL selling 21,459 units which is enough to take it to number one. Big difference between first and second with the PS Vita taking second spot and 11,937 units. And promising signs for the Wii U with 10,715 units sold. Sony’s latest console offering, the PS4, takes fourth spot with 7,009 consoles sold. Check out the full charts below.
