Very hard to believe but today, February 27 2019, marks the 23rd birthday for Pokemon.
It was today back in 1996 that Pokemon Red and Blue were released starting a craze and fan following that has continued to this day with even more millions of fans and the Pokemon game range extending beyond handhelds to consoles and even mobile phones.
The series director from Game Freak, Junichi Matsuda tweeted to thank longtime and new fans alike:
“Today is a day that’s been supported by numerous people. I have nothing but gratitude.”
