Sakura season is literally around the cornet for Japan. That beautiful time of the year when the Cherry Blossom go into bloom and decorate the Japanese landscape with a sea of pink, transforming everything into a dreamscape. So it’s a perfect time for Starbucks to reveal the annual tradition of the new Sakura themed drinks they’ll be offering.
If it’s one thing that Japan does extremely well is theme for the occasion and Christmas is no exception. Starbucks Japan always releases holiday themed drinks whether it’s for Halloween, Spring or any other reason worth celebrating. And this instance, Starbucks have released some themed drinks which look and sound absolutely delicious!
Feast your eyes on these Candied Pistachio and the Christmas Raspberry Mocha Frappucinos.
How much does this look like Christmas? The red sprinkles just make it look so festive and just like a holiday.
The Christmas Raspberry Mocha Frappucino is nicely complimented with a chocolate base, sweet and sour raspberry jelly, chocolate whipped cream and with a light sprinkling of raspberry powder. Normally I wouldn’t go near Starbucks for coffee and really…it normally isn’t the best but their themed drinks are always yummy and worth experiencing so if you’re in Japan, these are available right now!
Yes, you read that right. We’ve seen burgers with black squid ink and another one with strawberry sauce and now there’s one for DBZ fans.
How delicious does that look? No beef patty but a crumbed chicken slice complete with a Dragon Ball and French Fries. If you want to get your hands on this, it’s being served up at J-World, Ikebukuro.
Yes, you read that headline right. The KFC in the Tokyo area of Takadanobaba is now offering unlimited beer, cocktails and wine starting at the low price of $10! The store last used this deal during 2016 when they ran it during the evenings from 5PM onwards.
The store itself is very close to the Takadanobaba train station while the area itself is frequented by university students from the nearby Waseda University. Normally the deal costs you ¥1, 600 but you get all the drinks you can handle for 90 minutes and all the refills are in the house.
The beers on tap are Edelpeis pilsner from Sapporo and Heartland from Kirin while Suntory contributes Premium Malts Kaoru Ale and Premium Malts. No Asahi but that can be forgiven when these other flavours are on offer.
There’s also a KFC highball called the Colonel High that carries a spicy flavour paired well with the house chicken.
If you’re in the area on a Wednesday night then you’re in luck as after 6PM, the deal kicks in and all you pay is $9. All they ask is that you make a reservation the day before and you’re good to go. If you want more info, here’s the details below:
KFC (Takadanobaba branch) / ケンタッキーフライドチキン（高田馬場店）
Address: Tokyo-to, Shinjuku-ku, Takadanobaba 1-28-10
Open 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
In keeping with the current matcha theme that’s active in Japan, Mister Donut is jumping into the fray with their offering of matcha goodness products and yummy things to eat!
How good does that donut look? Gion Tsujiri is a green tea specialist from Kyoto who have been around for over 150 years. They’re also known for their matcha lip balms and delicious parfaits and are now turning their talents to donuts. There’s no less than six donuts to be given the matcha treatment and as you can see from the image below, they all look extremely delicious!
Let’s have a look at each one in closer detail. (All in the name of research, of course).
These awesome matcha treats will be available from April 7th through to about mid May so the only question that remains is, is there any chance of Mister Donuts coming to Australia pretty please?
Yes, not content with having some of the most exclusive yummy beverages on offer, Sakura Latte anyone?, Starbucks Japan have now upped the ante by introducing a new flavour to their menu: Matcha Pudding.
This is all due to the new pudding collection which they introduced last year. Being that it was announced on April Fool’s Day, many locals thought that it was a hoax but imagine their surprise when they turned up to their store and found this:
Check out how amazing and delicious this looks!!
There are three different expressions which come stamped on the tubs; “Each day is a gift”; “It’s time to start!”; and “Make someone’s day”. So of course many people bought packs to get all three messages.
And before you start thinking that all this pudding can’t be good for you, look how small the containers are!
This is what it looks like inside the container with all that yummy matcha goodness down the bottom:
And yes, like everything awesome in Japan, it’s a limited menu item and Starbucks haven’t noted how long it’ll be around for so grab it quick if you’re in Japan!
