It can be easily found as it’s located right next to another landmark in Akiba, Yodobashi Camera, next to Akihabara train station. One of the cool things about the cafe is that the interior theme will change depending on whatever SE is promoting at the time.

This new cafe joins the existing eatery dedicated to Final Fantasy XIV in Akihabara and Artnia, the other cafe situated in Shinjuku. As of writing, the theme for the new cafe is Final Fantasy XV which is evident by footage of the game being broadcast on many monitors. As well as the soundtrack being played through speakers, there are posters, artwork and character statues to really immerse you into the atmosphere.

New Animate Store For Akihabara

We already know that Akihabara is Ground Zero for all things otaku, right?

Well, now there’s a new store opening up from a very popular chain. Animate has its main store in Ikebukuro, seen as a more female friendly part of Tokyo, catering for the female otaku. But they now have a new store opening up in Akihabara as of June 2016. The new store boasts 7 floors of oatku goodness and is also known as “AKIBA Girls Station”. What separates this store from the others in Akihabara, which tends to be more male-centric, is that the anime/manga are going to be geared more towards their female audience, much like in Ikebukuro. It’s also conveniently located very close to the JR Akihabara station, only about 5 minutes away.

Here are some pics of the new store, courtesy of Tokyo Otaku Mode!

Akiba’s Beat E3 Trailer

Remember Akiba’s Trip on console and handheld a few years ago? That game allowed you to roam the streets of Akihabara with stunning architecture accuracy with pretty much all stores present and accounted for. A new game has emerged from E3 called Akiba’s Beat which is a new RPG from Acquire.

The plot of the game revolves around 19-year-old NEET Asashi Tachibana in a groundhog day scenario where Sunday is on constant loop repeating itself. Have a look at the trailer below which shows some amazing visuals and interesting characters. The game is being developed for PS4 and PS Vita.

Bandai Showroom Akiba December 2013

Apart from being an awesome train station, the Akihabara JR station is also host to the Bandai Showroom. It isn’t an overly large area but on a regular basis, the impressive figures in glass cases are rotated to make way for a new exhibition.

December 2013 saw the cases housing a display called the “Super Heroes/Mecha” edition. There were figures on display from from the Kamen Rider series, Mobile Suit Gundam and Super Sentai. The figures will be launching in Japan in May this year. There were some figures from a few other franchises as well.

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these but some of these ads were too cute to pass up. That’s one of the things we love about Akihabara, the way it’s always changing and evolving and setting gaming trends. It literally feels like a part of Tokyo that is always breathing and alive.
