Can you believe that blue haired vocaloid, Hatsune Miku, has been around for 10 years? Me neither but her impact has been considerable across pop culture, cosplay and the music scene. To mark the occasion, Good Smile Company are going to be releasing a special Hatsune Miku figure which has been designed by manga artist Mari Shimazaki and expertly crafted by sculptor Takayuki Kawahara. This figure is absolutely eye wateringly beautiful, just have a look at the pics below.
This is one good looking figure especially with the translucent parts added to the outfit with minute little sparkles thrown in to really make her stand out and sparkle. There’s also a special 10th anniversary official site loaded with more pics and info. There’s also a section on the anniversary Nendoroid as well! Pre-orders are open right now but you’re in for a hefty wait as the figure doesn’t release until December 2018 but this is one figure to add to your collection. PS. My pre-order is in!
It’s nearly time for birthday shenanigans of that cutest of vocaloids, Hatsune Miku and Japan is gearing up to celebrate in style. Here’s a really quick teaser clip, from the website, of some of the events in store to mark the 5th anniversary of the Magical Mirai celebrations:
Looks like there’ll be an expo, concert and heaps more fun in store for everyone to help Miku celebrate her birthday. Hatsune Miku: Magical Mirai 2017 will be going down at Makuhari Messe from September 1 through to September 3 this year.
Hard to believe but that blue haired vocaloid, Hatsune Miku, has been around for ten years already. I know, where has the time gone? To commemorate the occasion, Exit Tunes will be releasing a limited edition four disc album called “Vocalohistory feat. Hatsune Miku”.
The CD will come absolutely jam packed with 60 tracks ranging from halyosy, Mitchie M 40mP plus loads more.
There will only 3939 copies made of this CD and you may be wondering why the odd number of 3939? The number can also be pronounced as Miku Miku! The CD will also have art cards inside the packaging, an art book featuring artwork from RAHWIA, Komine, CHRIS plus more as well as 15 badges will be included too.
The album releases on March 15 2017 and pre-orders are now open from various online stores like Amazon Japan and Animate. The album will retail for ¥8000 so with shipping, you’re looking at close to $100 if not a little bit more.
Yep, you read that heading correct. Swiss watch maker, Romain Jerome, has decided to join in the Pokemon 20th Anniversary celebrations and release a limited edition Pikachu watch that has a retail price of US$20,000!
It comes packaged with a very swish Moon Invader titanium case and black baseplate with a cool lightning engraving. Still…flipping expensive and only for the biggest of fanboys/fangirls!
Super Sonico, that eternally kawaii 18 year old had her birthday recently. Not the character turning of age but the date of her creation was October 14, 2006 meaning she’s been around for ten years already…time goes flying! Here’s her birthday greeting which is too cute:
You’ll be able to buy some anniversary goods soon on December 25th like a Super Sonico 10th Anniversary Book which contains 256 pages of full colour A4 sized goodness. It’ll be selling for ¥4, 500. Here’s a look at the cover:

February 27th 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of Pokemon in Japan and what a momentous couple of decades it’s been! Most gamers across the globe have played Pokemon in some form or another and it’s a series that has spawned it’s fair share of rabid fanboys/girls. It’s also the inspiration behind some amazingly complex and kawaii cosplays!
From Pokemon specific conventions, fan meetups, countless hours dedicated to the game, merchandise and a hot anime TV series, it’s safe to say that it’s changed lives of a huge numbers of people. Some dedicated hardcore players have grown up with the series and have fond memories of playing Pokemon Red on the original Gameboy (puts hand up!).
This weekend sees a number of Pokemon related events happening all around the world. There’s also a dedicated website for this amazing milestone which you can check out here. Melbourne will be seeing a Pokemon event hosted by the EB store in Swanston St at The Nintendo Experience, come down if you have nothing to do, it promises to be a fun day!
And don’t forget to use the hashtag #Pokemon20 on all your social media. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and anything else you use…go bananas with it!!
Superbowl 50 is just around the corner and with this sporting event comes the traditional slew of TV spots and ads that are broadcast to millions of viewers at half-time. And no, I haven’t decided to follow the NFL (not that there’s anything wrong with it) but one commercial caught my eye. There’s a commercial for the 20th anniversary of Pokemon and it’s a great one!
The ad basically follows the tried and tested theme of believing in yourself and being able to accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. It’s pretty inspirational for a Pokemon commercial and it’s definitely worth checking out below.
Hard to believe but cult classic series, Ghost in the Shell, is turning 25 this year. To celebrate the impact it’s had on the industry, a new site has opened up celebrating the series on its 25th anniversary. You can take a look at the site here.
