Fans of cult classic anime, Black Butler, will no doubt have heard that there’s a new animated film in the works called Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic. The film will feature the Luxury Liner arc from the wildly popular manga from Yana Toboso. A second PV recently dropped which you can see below.
The theme song, “Glass no Hitomi”, is performed by SID, a J-Rock band which also features in the trailer. The film lands in Japanese cinema on January 21st, 2017 and is being animated by A-1 Pictures and sees Daisuke Ono reprising the role of Sebastian Michaelis while Maaya Sakamoto is back as Ciel Phantomhive.
Ahead of its January 18 launch, the live action adaptation of popular series, Black Butler, has had a new trailer released for it, and it looks great. The plot of the film is set in 2020 which is 130 years after the series anime and manga that we all know.
Unbelievably, main actor Hiro Mizushima dropped down to just 50kg for the main role.
The live action adaptation of the Black Butler movie has wrapped up ahead of its January 18 debut next year. In preparation, a series of promotional pictures have been released so the public knows what to expect.
The plot of the movie follows where the manga and anime finished off, 130 years in the future, The Phantomhive family has Ayame Goriki as the family heir looking to inherit the legacy. The actor in the lead, Hiro Mizushima, allegedly slimmed down 50kg in order to prepare for the role.

Musical Black Butler: The Most Beautiful Death in The World – A Thousand Souls and The Fallen Grim Reaper” has had new dates released for the Akasaka ACT Theater in Tokyo as well as the Umeda Art Theater in Osaka. The premiere of the musical will happening in Tokyo on May the 18th and June the 8th for Osaka. The stage production actually first started back in 2010 after the success of the first production, “That Butler, Friendship” in 2009.
Yuya Matsushita returns to the role he popularised, Sebastian Michaelis, while Ciel Phantomhive is brought to life by Taketo Tanaka. Uehara Takaya, a well-known among fans, returns as Grell Sutcliff and returning from the last musical, Izumi Shuhei fills the shoes of Undertaker.
Hiro Mizushima, seen in Kamen Rider Kabuto, is a Japanese actor, model and writer who has just been signed on to play the lead in popular manga from Yana Toboso, Black Butler.
The film will have two directors in the form of Keiichi Satou (Tiger & Bunny) and Kentaro Otani (live action NANA). Black Butler the movie, will be focussed on what the demonic butler is doing 130 years following the events of the anime/manga.
