After what seems like forever, two hugely popular manga are coming to an end in Japan. The August edition of Shonen Jump will see both Nisekoi and Bleach coming to a close. The edition will be a double edition, issues 36 – 37, and both manga will be getting a special colour page. Nisekoi will be seeing 25 pages for the last outing with a double colour page spread in the middle.
As a Bleach fanboy (Toshiro Hitsugaya FTW!), I’ll be sad to see it end after 15 long years but creator Tite Kubo is promising the series will go out on a high.
Now here’s something really cool as a fan of the Bleach series. It’s been turned into a rock musical of all things and even better, some of the visuals have been shown off…and they look amazing! The pics are from the official website which recently opened, you can check out more info at “Rock Musical Bleach: Mou Hitostu no Chijyou (Another Above Ground),” The story in the musical centres around the Soul Society story arc from the series and will run from July 28 through to August 7 at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo before moving onto the Kyoto Theater between August 24 and 28.
Hot off the press comes a press release from SMASH! announcing the first special guest for this year’s event. It’s none other than Japanese voice actor HIDEO ISHIKAWA. Known for a number of roles across Bleach, Naruto and more. I’ve included the official press release down below. SMASH! runs from August 20th and 21st at Rosehill Gardens, NSW.
Sydney, NSW, May 30th, 2016 — The wait is finally over! Bringing back the best and biggest convention year yet, SMASH! Sydney Anime and Manga Show is delighted to announce the first guest for SMASH! 2016: Japanese voice actor HIDEO ISHIKAWA.
With a career that spans over twenty years, Hideo Ishikawa is a Japanese voice actor who has worked on numerous titles across the anime and gaming industry. Hideo Ishikawa is best known for his roles as Itachi Uchiha (Naruto), Jushiro Ukitake (Bleach), Kiccho Fukuda (Slam Dunk), and Full Body (One Piece).
This will be the second Naruto voice actor to attend SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show. Fellow Japanese voice actor Noriaki Sugiyama — best known for his role as Sasuke Uchiha — previously attended SMASH! 2015 as a special guest.
SMASH! President Andrew Qiu believes Ishikawa’s guest attendance “reflects SMASH!’s ongoing commitment to bringing the best of Japanese pop-culture to Australia”.
“This is our 10th anniversary year and what better way to kick off the guest line-up than with Mr Hideo Ishikawa himself,” Qiu said. “Naruto is one of Japan’s successful franchises with millions of fans around the world, including Australia. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about Ishikawa’s Naruto journey, and his experiences as a voice actor in the animation industry.”
I’ve never really done one of these before so I hope someone finds this helpful and informative! I was in need of some coloured contact lenses for my Hollow Ichigo cosplay that I had planned for the recent Japanese Summer Festival in Melbourne the past weekend. Anyways they needed to be yellow and I needed them in 1 week’s time, my fault for leaving it til the last minute, I know.
All the little kiosks scattered around the Melbourne CBD were sold out and all novelty stores that sell contact lenses had literally every single colour…except yellow 🙁 I reached out to my dear friend Neko who advised me on Pinky Paradise, a well known online store for cosplayers and their coloured contact lenses needs. Can you believe it, they were sold out of yellow contact lenses as well!! By now, I was well and truly losing my shit as I had about 5 days left. I turned to Google Sensei and came across an Australian based business called Crazy Contacts.
I checked and they had the plain yellow ones that I was looking for and for under $30 as well! Keep in mind that the average price that I had seen for contact lenses was in the area of $50 so as a massive plus, the price suited me fine. Plus add another $17 for express delivery and I was still ahead for pricing. They arrived 2 days later and after soaking them, I popped them in. I have to say, I was extremely pleased with how they felt once I wore them in, I wasn’t sure what to expect considering how cheap they were but I have no issues with being a return customer and recommending them to other friends and cosplayers. The only gripe I have is that even though they were yellow, they didn’t appear to be solid yellow meaning they looked a bit greeny when I was wearing them. I do have extremely dark brown eyes though so maybe that’s just par for the course with my eye colour.
But overall, two thumbs ups and thanks for saving the day Crazy Contacts!!
It was only the other day that we posted an update regarding the fighting roster of the Shonen Jump game, J-Stars Victory VS. Today we hear of more fighters jumping into the fray. The update was made through the recent Jump magazine in Japan.
So now we have Aizen Sousuke from Bleach and Younger Toguro from YuYu Hakusho. Both have been confirmed as being playable characters which is great news. Another character also included was Hisoka of Hunter x Hunter fame who will play a support character.
The game will hit Japan on March 19 for PS Vita and PS3.
Yesterday we showed a whole heap of new images for upcoming brawler, J-Stars Victory VS. The fighting game is due to make an appearance on both the PS3 and the PS Vita for some Shonen Jump fighting shenanigans.
Today we can show off one of the main character’s power in action. Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach has been captured unleashing his mighty Zanpakuto which can be seen in the screen shots below.
We said yesterday as well but how good is this game looking? We’re really excited for this title and can’t wait to get our mitts on it. We can only hope that it’s at Tokyo Game Show this year!
A handful of new images have just been released for the upcoming PS3/PS Vita brawler, J-Stars Victory VS. The game is being released to mark the momentous occasion of Shonen Jump turning 45 and brings quite a few of the publication’s characters. What we know so far is that stars from One Piece, Bleach, Kochikame, Gintama, Toriko, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Rurouni Kenshin, Hunter x Hunter, and possibly some more, have all been thrown into the mix.
How good is this game looking? We can’t wait for this to be completed so we can get our hands on it! Here’s hoping they add more characters into the mix either selectable fighters or even if they make cameos as assist characters.
Great news revolving around the forthcoming PS Vita game, J-Stars Victory VS, with the news that two fan favourite characters will be coming to the arena.
Himura Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin and Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach will both be joining the ever increasing roster of fighters ranging from Toriko, Goku, Naruto and Monkey D. Luffy in the game to celebrate 45 years of Shonen Jump.
The game is being developed for both the PS3 and the PS Vita.
