TGS ’13: Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes English opening

TGS is over for another year but the trickle of information still continues to leak out of Japan for a bit longer. This one  concerns Konami and their release of the opening cinematic for Metal Gear V: Ground Zeroes but with the English dub. It’s also an extended opening cinematic which has previously been available in Japanese so getting it in English is a nice touch.

Confusion Cleared Up Over Metal Gear Solid & Ground Zeroes

At the recent GDC, Hideo Kojima took the covers off the Metal Gear Solid V trailer and released it onto the world. But despite Kojima being on hand for the proceedings, there was still confusion with fans thinking that The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes were one and the same.

Today the issue was cleared up with the announcement that the two titles are in fact two separate games. Jay Boor, Konami’s Director of Public Relations, had the following to say, “Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are two separate games. GZ will be a prologue to The Phantom Pain.” When he was pressed further about the platforms they’d be appearing on, he reaming tightlipped regarding Ground Zeroes. However he did reveal that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is “definitely 360 and PS3.”

Kojima Speaks Up About Using Metal Gear Concepts In Other Games

Metal Gear series creator, Hideo Kojima, was recently speaking to EGM about the Metal Gear series and development of games outside the MGS franchise. He has previously mentioned that he’d love to do some work on games that aren’t Metal Gear related however he invariably always returns to the series he made famous but there is also a positive spin to this.

“I’m often misinterpreted,” Kojima feels. “I’ve always said that I want to work on original properties, but Metal Gear offers plenty of benefits. The Fox Engine, for example, took a lot of time and money [to create]; we were only able to develop it because it was intended for the next Metal Gear.”

Kojima then continues to add: “In the next game, I’m introducing concepts intended for entirely new intellectual properties using the Metal Gear brand.”

IS the next game he’s referring to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes or maybe something that hasn’t had the covers taken off yet? However Hideo is also currently involved with another project, a game called Project Ogre, a game which utilises the Fox Engine.

Ground Zeroes Will Have Day/Night Cycles Plus New Screenshots

Great day for fans wanting to see more of Ground Zeroes, the next exciting installment in the Metal Gear Solid series, with the release of the screenshots seen below.

Hideo Kojima has also revealed that the game will incorporate day and night pattern cycles which will affect things such as enemy patrols and other seemingly random world and environment events. The idea being that this feature will increase the replayability time for the game.
