So you want to travel around Tokyo but you know, with that little extra flair? How about catching one of these amazing looking Evangelion buses that have made a comeback after originally appearing back in 2012 around the Hakone region. Hakone is the basis for the Tokyo-3 area seen in the series.
This snazzy new bus shows off Kaworu, Asuka, Shinji, Rei and Mari wearing stylish yukatas while the inside of the bus sees similar decorations on the ticket machine, windows and the luggage compartments.
It’s a fair statement to say that most of the anime storylines occur in Tokyo however one major series took place in the Kanagawa Prefecture.
That series was Neon Genesis Evangelion. And the area that looks suspiciously like Tokyo-3 is Hakone. So commencing on March 25, citizens that have a registered vehicle will be able to attach an Evangelion themed licence plate to their car, scooter, motor bike or any other road vehicle. As you can see from the pics below, they look pretty cool and very much an otaku must have. The plates come in four different colours with well known landmarks such as Mt. Fuji, Hakone Shrine and Lake Ashinoko.
There are only 390 plates to pick up but given that there are only 769 registered drivers, availability shouldn’t be a huge issue.
