Makuhari Messe recently hosted the annual Jump Festa 2018 during which a brand new PV was unveiled for the new Tokyo Ghoul: RE series. The PV goes into detail as it introduces the various member that make up Quinx and what part they play in the new series.
Tokyo Game Show is in full swing at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan and while I can’t be there in person this year, I’m lucky enough to have friends that have made the trip over to Japan. Yesterday we saw some pics from DYoshiiTV who’s over there doing some amazing work with Tokyo Otaku Mode and today I managed to snag some more pics from day one.
These pics come courtesy of Matt Sainsbury who runs Digitally Downloaded Dot Net and is over there doing some awesome stuff as well! If you haven’t checked out his stuff yet, you should as it’s amazing! Plus, he’s a massive fan of Hatsune Miku, just like me! And he’s also doing some col coverage of TGS on his site as well so make you stop by.
Makuhari Messe was host to Winter Wonder Festival recently. WonFes, to give it its shorter name, is a garage kit and model expo which draws huge numbers and more specifically, cosplayers all dressed up showing off their favourite anime or gaming characters. Here are some pics below which Rocket News managed to grab of the event.
Makuhari Messe was host to a new convention a couple of weekends ago. The Tokaigi Game Party Japan 2015 ran from January 31 through to 1st of February and was formally known as the Nico Nico Tokaigi. The event was being promoted as a place to experience new games, enjoy retro titles, make friends offline and more importantly, claim bragging rights to being the best player of a game.
Spanning 3 halls, the convention saw many developers such as Nintendo, Sony and Square Enix have a presence and show off what they’ve been working on. The different booths saw players being able to enjoy such varied titles as Super Mario, Guilty Gear and Pokemon. The event wasn’t just about new titles with retro games given a workout as well. Playstation had a big historical section as well for a stroll down memory lane. This report appeared on AFA.
Phew…after an exhaustive second day at TGS, we can safely say that we had a great time and have very sore feet! Here are some pics from day two, hope you all enjoy them!
Japandaman is a tired otaku after attending day one of Tokyo Game Show 2014 but not too tired not to update with some pics from the first day. Definitely the highlight was meeting awesome cosplayer, Vampy Bit Me and interviewing her for It’s Japan, Man! She was so nice and really generous to give us time out of her schedule for a quick chat, thanks Vampy!
Here’s an exciting bit of news for us at Japandaman HQ, the annual unveiling of the main visual art for this year’s Tokyo Game Show. It’s also what you’ll normally see on T-shirts, mugs and anything promoting the event and sold at the venue.
The artist who has been involved with the event since 2010, Ippei Gyoubu, created this amazing display which also promotes the theme for this year which is, “Changing Games: The Transformation of Fun.”
“I created this year’s main visual by visualizing the “emergence” based on the keyword “change/transformation” in the theme. A caterpillar becomes a chrysalis, breaks down its body and reconstructs itself to be born as a completely different creature. In a gaming world, technological innovation has evolved in the last 10 years and now that we’ve passed through the revolutions such as internet, social media and smartphone, I feel that we’ve come close to the time of the birth of a completely new world with all those revolutions blending well. I created this visual based on that feeling. This main visual expresses the ambiguity of whether the visual is a reflection of the metal or not, it’s a flat graphic or not, it’s stereoscopic or planar, and she’s a human or a robot.” – Ippei Gyoubu
TGS will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba from September 18 – September 21, 2014.
Wonder Festival, or WonFes for short, is a massive showcase for upcoming figures, nendoroids and loads more. One of the popular companies to bring their wares to the event would have to be Good Smile Company.
GSC have started the wheels of the promotion machine by showing what exclusives they intend on showing at the event, but be warned, your eyes will be watering at the awesome and amazing figures!
Winter WonFes will be held on the 9th of February, 2014 at Makuhari Messe.
Makuhari Messe was recently host to the Wonder Festival, an event used to showcase up and coming figure models and garage scale kits as well. It used to be an event for amateur figure makers and developers to show off their wares but these days it also attracts the attention of well established figure companies.
One of the more exciting and unique showcases that was on display was a 1:1 ratio scale figure of a Titan head from the hit anime, Attack on Titan. It was in place at the entrance to the dual booths of Good Smile Company and Max Factory as GSC made the recent announcement that they’ll producing Titan nendoroids.
We take another look today at another aspect of the Nico Nico Chokaigi held on the weekend. We’ve seen cosplayers and itasha that were on display and now it’s another Japanese cultural phenomenon. The most popular Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku. Let’s not forget that Hatsune made her first big impact at Nico Nico Douga so it only makes sense that she have a large presence at the show.
Quite a few companies were using Hatsune to promote their products while just as many others were selling her goods at their booths. There were also heaps of itasha decked with Miku at the “ItaG Fest Shucchou-hen in Nico Nico Chokaigi 2.”
