MGS 3D Meets Hooters?

Konami has come up with an inventive way to get tongues wagging for the impending Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D release…hold a press conference in Akasaka. Gaming bible, Famitsu was there to cover the event and managed to get the snapshots seen below. People might be wondering what on earth the connection is between MGS and the world of Hooters?

Let’s not forget that covers of Hooters magazines have appeared in MGS games before as posters and gravure magazines to distract the guards allowing you to sneak past them. What ever will they think of next? The lucky press people (where was my pass?) were served up by the Hooters girls and more importantly so, were able to sample MGS before its launch on Thursday.

For more info and pics, check out Famitsu.com and Impress Watch.

Accolades Pour In For MGS 3D

One of the most critical magazines in the business, Edge, has given a glowing review to Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D for the Nintendo 3DS including a comment that it looks better than the recent HD treatment given to Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater HD for the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Read the comment for yourself below.

“Packed with detail, both in terms of it’s environments and mechanics, this is a game that pays back investment in spades. MGS3 is a modern classic – the tightest, smartest and most emotional journey in the series – and even the HD update doesn’t look as good as this portable treatment.”

No doubt we’ll agree with their statement when it releases next month!

Close Up Pics: Snakeskin 3DS

Some more pics of the Snakeskin Camouflage 3DS unit which only a select lucky few people will ever get their hands on due to the raffle system in place by Konami in order to get one.

Another bit of swag that may be more accessible to most people is the calendar that Hideo Kojima revealed. Everyone who completes the questionnaire included with the game will be receiving the calendar, a great incentive to fill one out if you ask us!

More Metal Gear Goodness

Kojima Productions spokesperson, Yumi Kikiuchi, showed off her personal MGS stash of goodies today via Twitter and damn if we ain’t envious. Just a little bit.

Above you’ll see an impressive collection of Metal Gear Solid 3DS goodies ranging from the Snake Camouflage 3DS unit, carry pouch and a stylus that massive 3rd party manufacturer, Hori, will be releasing. In one word…awesome.

Metal Gear Solid 3D Bundle Details

Konami have shown off their entry for the best 3DS gaming package recently for soon to be released, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D. And just like the recent Square Enix Kingdom Hearts package with the custom 3DS unit, this effort from Konami is no slouch either. Unfortunately obtaining it will be harder than usual, first of all it will only be available directly from the Konami Style e-shop but only via a raffle system.

You obtain a raffle ticket and if you get chosen then you’ll have an opportunity to lay down some money, ¥22,980 to be exact. Ouch.

What do you get for your money though? You get the ‘Snake Camouflage’ 3DS model plus two clear folders with different characters on them. Nice.

Metal Gear Solid 3DS Dated, Official Box Art Revealed

The covers have been taken off one of the most eagerly anticipated games for the 3DS, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D. Konami has announced that this next MGS instalment will be hitting streets on March 8th. Keep in mind that this is the European street date but one date is better than no date, right?

The official box art has also been revealed, seen below.

Don’t forget that this was supposed to be a launch game so finally having a release date is fantastic!!

PS. Quick update – Australia has a confirmed release date of March 8…better see if that sneaking suit still fits!

Metal Gear Solid 3DS System

I recently blogged about a teaser pic that Hideo Kojima had posted showing a glimpse of the Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3DS with what appeared to be snakeskin covering the handheld to go along with the game’s theme.

Well now I can show you the full pic and…I’m still undecided.

Unfortunately this small picture is all that there is so far but a full reveal of the system as well as pricing will be revealed on January 20 . Stay tuned.

Snake Eater Demo Footage From Japan E-shop

One of the Bitlocker members has managed to get his hands on the Japanese demo of Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater for the 3DS. He’s managed to get some excellent footage from the demo which you can check out for yourself below.

Pretty cool demo, seems promising but sadly the framerate in the game is not so hot. Feels rather clunky.

Hopefully the frame issues that seem to plague the demo will be cleaned up before the release.

Early Info On Snake Eater 3D Bundle

Hideo Kojima, creator of all things Metal Gear related, has released on his Twitter page (@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN) an early snapshot of what appears to be a snakeskin 3DS that looks set to form part of a bundle when the game is released next year.

I’m still not too convinced on this early mockup, it looks a little like a woman’s purse in my opinion but we’ll see if it receives further revisions closer to launch.
