Amazing Metal Gear Cosplay

I’m a sucker for the Metal Gear franchise, it’s easily my favourite series followed by Resident Evil. I also love cosplay so when the MGS series comes together and meets cosplay, the results can be astounding…as is evident from the pics below. I came across this amazing feature on Kotaku.

Here’s Rick Boer with some awesome and very talented cosplay.

Metal Gear Solid PS4 Shows Up In Japan

Fans of Metal Gear Solid will have heard by now that the fifth installment, The Phantom Pain, has been given a release date of September 1st. Thanks to a clever partnership between Sony and Konami, one of the smexiest Playstation 4 units ever seen has just been announced.

Sporting a stunning colour palette of gold, burgundy, and of course black, the design is said to have been inspired by the bionic arm that Snake wears in the game. With a design this impressive looking, it’s sure to be a fan favourite. Here’s a better look at the console and a closer look at the DualShock 4 which comes with a Diamond Dogs logo on the right hand side.

As with everything this good looking, there’s no word yet on whether this will make it to the West but we can have hope…and keep our fingers tightly crossed.

TGS ’14 Update: Quick Look At The Phantom Pain

As mentioned yesterday, Kojima Production were planning to show off some footage from Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain. The footage was to be screened during the recent Kojima Station which aired this morning. The footage shown was very brief and features character Quiet dropping in amongst some troops using some very stealthy camouflage. What’s more impressive is that the footage was running in real time on a Playstation 4 console.

Hopefully there’ll be more footage at Tokyo Game Show next week. We’ll let you know once we’re on the showroom floor!

The reveal came via Konami who confirmed that the footage will first be on display at the show before then been made available on the website. Also confirming that the version that will be present will be the PS4 version.

This is awesome news as we’re huge MGS fans at Japandaman HQ so expect to see some pics of this from the showroom floor.

Metal Gear Solid fans, this one’s for you. The other day, Hideo Kojima tweeted the pic seen below which started tongues wagging and sent the rumour mill sent into overdrive. The pic features all versions of Metal Gear hero, Snake, in the various appearances across many games.

Upcoming Famitsu To Have Metal Gear Surprise

Word’s coming out of Japan that the next issue of gaming publication, Famitsu Weekly, will have some kind of surprise for fans of Metal Gear Solid.

No solid facts on what it is but rumours are aplenty that it may have something to do with the recently announced “The Phantom Pain” which has everyone speculating that it is in fact, Metal Gear Solid 5.

We’ll keep you posted.

Kojima Speaks Up About Using Metal Gear Concepts In Other Games

Metal Gear series creator, Hideo Kojima, was recently speaking to EGM about the Metal Gear series and development of games outside the MGS franchise. He has previously mentioned that he’d love to do some work on games that aren’t Metal Gear related however he invariably always returns to the series he made famous but there is also a positive spin to this.

“I’m often misinterpreted,” Kojima feels. “I’ve always said that I want to work on original properties, but Metal Gear offers plenty of benefits. The Fox Engine, for example, took a lot of time and money [to create]; we were only able to develop it because it was intended for the next Metal Gear.”

Kojima then continues to add: “In the next game, I’m introducing concepts intended for entirely new intellectual properties using the Metal Gear brand.”

IS the next game he’s referring to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes or maybe something that hasn’t had the covers taken off yet? However Hideo is also currently involved with another project, a game called Project Ogre, a game which utilises the Fox Engine.
