Japan Weekly Sales Charts

Time for another update to see what’s been selling in Japan for both software and hardware! Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the 3DS took out the first place ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the PS3 which is surprising. Just goes to show that more people are into the simulation genre than the hardcore FPS genre in Japan.

The 3DS still sits pretty o top of the hardware charts selling an impressive 162,077 units while in second place the PS3 sold 34,167 units. That is a huge difference considering that CoD was in second place on the software charts. Meanwhile the woes continue for the PS Vita with sales dipping below 10k again with 9,712 units sold. Animal Crossing 3DS Ships Large Numbers

The week just gone saw the release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the 3DS in Japan and while official sale numbers haven’t been released as yet, there are some impressive numbers on how many pre-orders were shifted.

The pre-order originally started out with a 200,00 shipment which increased to a staggering 500,00 as retailers in Japan kept watching pre-orders keep rolling in. This is only the first shipment for the game so there’s obviously a huge interest for this title in Japan.

Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata, recently mentioned that the Animal Crossing 3DS bundle was also selling like hotcakes and the pre-orders for the hardware bundle had caused the shifted units to increase as well.
