Level-5 recently wrapped up their 2013 press conference with one particular bit of information getting fanboys all happy. Professor Layton will be coming back to the following platforms: iOS, Android and the 3DS. There’s one major difference from this new entry to past titles though.
The Professor himself won’t be making an appearance in Layton 7.
That’s right, the new Layton 7 will be an RPG puzzler focussing on the inhabitants of a small town. How this will fare is anyone’s guess but for now, entertain your curiosity with some pics from the game.
Thanks to Nintendomination, we’re now able to see the first 60 minutes of the one of the most eagerly awaited crossover titles, Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright.
The game which is a joint production between Level-5 and Capcom recently launched in Japan however, unfortunately, no news yet on when this game will release in the West, if at all which would be an absolute shame if it didn’t see a release.
During the recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, the attention was briefly passed along to the Level-5 CEO who made a surprising announcement, that a Professor Layton was making its way to the 3DS. Titled Layton Kyouju to Choubunmei A no Isan, the events in this new game take place one year after the events of Kiseki no Kamen have unfolded.
The most surprising part of these news is that we’re lead to believe that it will be the last Layton game in the current series. What little we do know about the game is that it starts with news of someone who believes he has found a living mummy, sounds intriguing.
Sure hope it’s only the last Layton in the current series and not forever, he’s proven to be extremely popular with both gaming and puzzle enthusiasts alike. Look for it sometime in 2013.
Another title that’s on everyone’s mind as it promises to be a unique blend of drama, puzzle solving and maybe even some action, is Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney for the Nintendo 3DS. Not a lot has been seen lately, if at all, from this title that’s bringing together two of Japan’s development powerhouses, Level-5 and Capcom. The announcement of the game’s existence and pushing forward with development was made last year and since then, not even a tweet here or there about it. That however is all about to change.
Capcom has confirmed that at next week’s Tokyo Game Show, they will be having a stage event on September 16 from 13:40 to 14:10 and in attendance will be Akihiro Hino, Level-5 CEO and Hironobu Takeshita from Capcom. They will be there to talk to the press about new information regarding the game and some of the secrets uncovered during development of Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney. For readers who are going but won’t be at the press day, no need to worry as the event will be held on the first public day, September 17 from 12:30 to 13:00.
Should promise to be a doozy and one not to miss! Trailer below.
