Tokyo Game Show exhibitor line-up

Tokyo Game Show, or just TGS, is less than 8 weeks away now and we can finally show the complete line-up of companies who’ll be in attendance showing off their latest and greatest. This is a prime opportunity to show off what exciting game, and in some cases, hardware releases the rest of the world can expect to see in the months after TGS.

No doubt the buzz word on everyone’s lips will be the PS4 with its release scheduled for later on this year so we can expect to see Sony hyping up the unit and really pushing the games that will be making an appearance. Capcom will be there with their amazingly themed booths and hopefully both Monster Hunter 4 and the latest Ace Attorney will be shown off as well.

Prolific developer, Level-5, fresh off the heels of delivering an amazing game in Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch today announced they’ve just started work on a game for Sony’s next console, the Playstation 4.

Akihiro Hino, the CEO and President of Level-5, recently went on record with the following statement, “It’s still in the planning stages, but we are also working on a PlayStation 4 title.” The statement was made during an interview with Nikkei Trendy. When asked about the PS4, he responded with, “PlayStation 4 is next-gen hardware built with the network in mind, so more than graphics performance and specs, we need to think about communication—how to use the network features.”

He also chimed in with his thoughts on the PS Vita saying he thought the new price drop was a great idea but that Sony would need to release more strategic titles simultaneously for it make a bigger impact.

PS4 In Development

Exciting news for gamers all around the world…Sony has confirmed that the PS4 is indeed being worked on and under development. These news were confirmed by Sony’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Masaru Kato, during a post post-annual earnings report conference call. Here’s a quote from the call.

Question: What is the major driver of R&D costs?
Answer: “Prototype research work, development work during the current fiscal year in the game segment. We have a portable NGP to be launched later this year, so we have development expenses to be incurred for this product and for the home equipment. The PS3 still has a product life, but this is a platform business, so for the future platform–when we’ll be introducing what product I cannot discuss that–but our development work is already under way, so the costs are incurred there.”
