Fans of the Shin Megami series will be pleased to hear that there’s a new dungeon crawler in the series coming to us from developer, Atlus. Famitsu magazine recently announced that Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation is being jointly developed by Atlus and Sega for the smartphone platform.
Not much is known at the moment but we have heard that the story centres around the two factions known as the Liberators and the Acolytes. Stay tuned, hopefully we’ll hear more soon on this exciting development.
I’m a huge fan of Hatsune Miku, probably the most well known vocaloid. I don’t profess to know all her tracks but what I’ve heard, I love.
It’s such a shame that she’s a virtual idol and not a real life person. I mean, who wouldn’t want their picture taken with the blue haired superstar? Well thanks to a new app, now you can. The app is on iOS and Android and is called Miku Picture. So now no matter where you go or what you’re doing, you can snap a picture with Miku chan!
I’d love to see your pics and don’t forget to use the hashtag #Mikuture if you grab a snap!
The Sega Hard Girls are 2D girls versions of Sega consoles from yesteryear. From the Dreamcast through to the MegaDrive (Genesis). Now they’re going to be making an appearance as chips in a smartphone game.
The game in question is Phantasy Star Online 2 ES. The chips will be used in game to give the player various bonuses. The specific girls making a show will be the MegaDrive, Sega Saturn and the Dreamcast. The girls will have the ability to evolve into a “Tower” version so the MegaDrive can combine the Mega-CD and Super 32X, for example.
This offer is time limited and will expire on March 4th, 2015 so if you have access to this game, make sure you don’t miss out. Check the Hard Girls site for more info.
One of the many things that Japan has plenty of is anime merchandise, especially for smartphones. This is a pretty cool smartphone cover that we just came across that matches a popular anime with a unique look.
This Kill la Kill inspired case is the work of GrooveGarage who have previously released covers from Free! and Arpeggio of Blue Steel. This awesome Senketsu case is priced at ¥2, 750 and has snazzy clip on the back so you can attach it to a bag or carry it around your neck as is the norm in Japan. It’ll be available in May.
Japan is an ever changing landscape of trends. What everyone is following one day may literally change overnight. One of the more unique trends to come around involves smartphones. Specifically, fans have taken to creating art of their favourite anime/game characters behaving as if they’re trapped behind the smartphone glass.
Pixiv is a Japanese based art portal which is where these pics have come from. I’ve provided links where possible if you want to go and check out more of their amazing work.
We showed some pretty awesome iPhone cases the other day that looked more like tasty food treats than cases. Today there’s some cases we came across from two very popular anime’s.
Kill la Kill and Arpeggio of Blue Steel both have a solid fan base so smartphone accessory maker, Groove Garage MofuMofu, saw fit to release these cases. Guts (Kill la Kill) and Yotaro (Arpeggio of Blue Steel) can now be carried around with you via these cases which will be released April with a price tag each of ¥2,940.
Guts has a bone pull tag which when yanked on reveals your phone while Yotaro needs his tail pulled to open the flap revealing your phone.
And now let’s take a look at the Yotaro case, these are both so cute!
Owners of iPhone’s who also happen to be Gundam fans will soon be able to show their allegiance while protecting their phone at the same time. Bandai have taken the covers off of some very nifty looking cases made from silicone and carrying different 3D suits and other related images from the series. The cases will be able to be used on the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5S.
Each case will retail ¥2,625 and can be picked up from Bandai’s official online store, KIWAMONOWEB. The cases will release in February 2014 and will be a strictly limited stock so you might want to check it out and see if you can snag yourself one before they all sell out.
Dragon Quest is enjoyed by many in Japan and the world, many more will discover the game on smart phones. So it’s with this in mind that Square Enix have teamed up with a smart phone manufacturer and released a Dragon Quest phone.
The phone is being developed by Sharp in the deal which saw Square Enix team up with Japanese phone carrier, NTT DoCoMo. The phone will be coming with Android 4.2 otherwise known as Jellybean while the insides will contain a Snapdragon 2.2 GHz quad core processor. The other tech specs are on par with most smart phones but the real difference is in the outer casing. The phone will come enclosed in a metallic Dragon Quest cover which is sure to raise some eyebrows, it looks amazing. Rounding off the package is Dragon Quest VIII coming pre-installed on the phone.
Smartphone cases are huge business in Japan. Anyone who’s been to Japan will be hard pressed to find a phone, naked in its owner’s hand. Something else that’s huge business in Japan is the blue haired vocaloid, Hatsune Miku, so it just made sense to combine the two and release some funky smartphone cases.
Good Smile Racing from the world of Super GT joined forces with Phocase, a phone accessory maker, to create cases with the team mascot, Racing Miku. The cases are for the iPhone 4 and 5 and will feature a newly launched version of Racing Miku for 2013 while the other artwork features Miku with a design based on the Sepang International Circuit. Android users needn’t feel left out with the news that an Android version with the Good Smile Racing logo on it will also be released.
The case for Android devices can be picked up from the Phocase online store for ¥3,500 while the iPhone case can be picked up from the Good Smile online shop and Nico Douga web store Nico Nico Chokuhan for ¥2,980. These are limited with the Racing Miku case available until December 31st while the Sepang case will sell until August 17th.
