Seems like those 3DS AR cards that Nintendo announced during their recent Nintendo Direct broadcast are starting to pick up momentum with the news that another title will also be utilising their own AR cards.
Detective Conan: Marionette Symphony, which is a title that probably will never see the light of day outside Japan, will be using AR cards to project a mini Conan onto a surface who will be able to give you gameplay tips and guide you along the way. The story revolves around an accomplished sleuth who after drinking poison reverts back to a child.
The AR Conan will be able to assist you by giving advice depending on what the mission is or what the objective is that needs to be met to complete a level. Seems pretty nifty if you ask us. With the Mario AR cards and now Detective Conan, are we seeing a new gameplay technique on the horizon?
Nintendo held one of their popular Nintendo Direct broadcasts yesterday during which they showed the new Super Mario AR cards that’ll be available soon. The prepaid cards will be hitting Japan on April 23rd with no confirmation of other regions as yet.
The card will differ in value ranging from ¥1000, ¥2000 and ¥3000 with different characters available on the cards. The software that you’ll need to interact with these cards, called “Isshoni Photo” which translates as “take a picture together”, will be made for download from the eShop using a QR code that will come packages with the card. The big difference between these AR cards and the ones that ship with your 3DS is that these cards will allow the characters to interact with each other as well as give you the ability to take these characters to different locations with you. You’ll also be able to recreate familiar in-game animations from the Mario Universe.
Walkthrough video of how it’ll work, looks pretty cool!
The three characters available at launch will be Goomba, Mario and Princess Peach with Koopa Troopa, Luigi and Bowser confirmed as coming later on at the same price system as the first three. No date when they’ll be released though as yet.
If you’re in the habit of wearing kimonos, have a huge love for Nintendo’s Mario and were wondering how you can blend both things together, you’re now covered.
An anonymous lady in Japan who happens to be a big fan of the short plumber has woven an amazing kimono for herself complete with a belt with a cool Famicom controller. She’s also wearing gloves much like Peach, Mario and Luigi, she even has a star in her hair to complete the look. Great work on the embroidery as well, amazing detail and loads of hours put into this kimono.
