A who’s who of the K-Pop world recently touched down in Paris for the recording of a special show, which took place two days ago, but will be broadcast on the 18th February.
The following groups took part in the KBS Music Bank in Paris Special; Girls’ Generation, T-ara, 2PM, 4minute, B2ST, SHINee, SISTAR and U-KISS.
European K-Pop fans waited for their idols at the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle in their hundreds holding up signs and placards.
KBS had the following statement released, “In addition to the Tokyo Dome concert we held last year, we have officially launched a expedition here in Europe… As the leading show for all things Hallyu, ‘Music Bank’ has made a break through in the international market.”
Check out the footage of the K-Pop stars touching down in Paris and the reception that greeted them.
Hopefully Japandaman Dailies will have more info on the screening of the special after it airs in Paris.
Lovey Dovey is doing big business for Korean girl band, T-ARA, at the moment tearing up various music charts dominating the airwaves. Before all the hype had a chance to really sink in, the girls made a pledge that if they were to reach number one on a widespread music program, they would travel to their next venue by the subway, performing along the way.
Well the girls managed to take out top prize on SBS’s Inkigayo so true to their word they were snapped on public transport, casually dressed, performing for fans and passers by alike. They were also handing out free snacks and cd’s for fans to show their appreciation in helping them reach the Korean KPop Hot 100 chart during the course of the weekend.
I reported yesterday about Eunjung injuring a ligament in her ankle on the eve of a series of T-ara promotional performances and putting the whole event in jeopardy, today I can report that she will definitely be taking part and the show will go on…if she has her way that is.
Her doctors still haven’t made up their minds but Eunjung has said that she will be taking to the stage with painkillers and a cast if she has to.
T-ara already has their newest track racing up the charts and their official 20 minute MV or Music Video has garnered almost 2 million hits in two day on video sharing site, Youtube. For those that have missed it, the 20 minute spectacle is below.
Eunjung from K-Pop group, T-ara, recently suffered an injury to her ankle but despite this setback, she has no plans to let this affect T-ara’s comeback plans.
The management agency that handles T-ARA had the following statement prepared, “Eunjung will be taking to the stage (with her ankle) wrapped in a partial cast. The doctors hope that she can rest quietly, but she is determined to stand on the comeback stage.”
To overcome this, Eunjung has been taking analgesic shots and been applying a hot compress to the affected area. Her management agency has been consulting with the doctors looking after her and have assured them that with this particular type of injury, athletes usually end up competing following the analgesic injections.
Either way, she will be under close observation up until the day before the performance to make sure that she is fit to perform.
This year has barely scratched the surface and there already a few Asian artists eager to get their releases out for 2012.
First up we have T-ARA who are releasing their fifth album entitled, “Funky Town”, along with a music video for a song from the album called “Lovey Dovey”. The album will have 8 tracks which include the aforementioned “Lovey Dovey”, “We were in love”, “Goodbye OK”, “I’m so bad”, “Oh my God” and “Cry Cry” (ballad version).
Next up we have EXO, who are the next major band to come out of the SM Entertainment stable and feature both Chinese and Korean singers. They had a debut at the 2011 SBS Gayo Daejun event held last week and the release of their album should please waiting fans.
Another artist known for her cuteness appeal is NS Yoonji who appears to be trying something different with her look if the teaser for her new music video is any indication. Check out “The reason I became a witch” below.
Beast, known for the massive hit Fiction, will be travelling to 21 cities around the globe and have unleashed a teaser trailer so people can see what to expect. PS. Australia isn’t on the list 🙁
Definitely looking like shaping up to be a great year for J-Pop and K-Pop fans!
