Hard to believe but cult classic series, Ghost in the Shell, is turning 25 this year. To celebrate the impact it’s had on the industry, a new site has opened up celebrating the series on its 25th anniversary. You can take a look at the site here.
There’s a few new releases from the GiTS universe, those being an eBook, slated for release on June 20th which will ship with the 3rd volume of the Arise – Sleepless Eye manga, 1 of Stand Alone Complex – Laughing Man and 6 and 7 of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Tachikoma na Hibi.
Cosplay merchandise company, Cospa, have shown off what they’re going to be releasing for the Summer time in Japan. Helped along by the release of Ghost in the Shell: Arise in cinemas, Cospa will be releasing some GITS merchandise to mark the occasion. Some of the merchandise has been release before however some of it is completely new and will debuting this year.
Two new such items are a pair of towels featuring a Tachikoma and the ubiquitous Laughing Man logo. The towels will set you back ¥1,575 each. Anyone else think this stuff is Otaku heaven?
Fans of classic anime, Ghost in the Shell, left wanting for more adventures from Motoko, Tachikoma and co may be in luck very soon.
Bandai Visual are planning a global event to be streamed online globally on February 12 where the main focus will be the new Arise anime however rumours are flying thick and fast they’ll use this event to also mention the possibility of a new game. In attendance will be Tow Ubukata (Series Composition and Script), Kazuchika Kise (Chief Director and Character Design) and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa (Head of Production IG). There’ll also be a couple of guests in the form of Satoshi Endo (Director at Kadokawa’s Ascii Media Works) and Takeshi Natsuno (Telecommunications Guru).
The even will take place on February 12 at 9PM (Japan time) with translation at the same time. The webcast will streamed on YouTube, Niconico and Bandai Channel.
