Square Enix have released their The World Ends With You spin-off onto the Android platform and was made available 2 days ago on May 20th. Titled The World Ends With You: Live Remix, the game revolves around spending 7 days in the game with a new Reaper running the show called Atarashi Koko.
The game, which was developed by GREE and Square Enix, will enable up to 20 gamers to take on and defeat the Ringleader noise by working together. Also incorporated is a synthesis system will allow gamers to create their own pins as seen in the game.
Following the recent uproar by dedicated fans of Square Enix cult classic, The World Ends With You, over the port of the game to the iOS platform instead of the sequel that everyone was clamouring for, there are reports that there may be a silver lining, however faint it may be.
The ending for the iOS port apparently has a secret ending which can be seen above, which could be hinting at the possibility of a new game or just fanboy wishful thinking? But when you couple it with recent article in Famitsu Weekly, where they had a sit down with the director, Tatsuya Kando, he also mentioned the following: “We are in the middle of working on various things, but for now please enjoySolo Remix.”
Who knows, maybe the door hasn’t entirely closed on a sequel for TWEWY, just hopefully not on iOS again, please Square Enix.
We reported earlier in the week that cult classic from Square Enix, The World Ends With You, had recently had a new teaser site opened for it leading everyone to speculate that a sequel was finally in the works.
But apparently this is unfortunately not the case with SE accidentally taking the covers of the teaser announcement and revealing it to be nothing more than an iOS port. This is great news if you’re an iOS user (I’m not) and were wondering what all the fuss is about.
The teaser site is still up and as of writing has a little under 3 1/2 hours to go before the announcement is made. This is absolutely shattering for fans of this ground breaking title with RPG elements. We will monitor the teaser site and see what eventuates in the hope that maybe the iOS leak was just to throw people off?
Awesome and exciting news all rolled into one today with the announcement that Square Enix have launched a brand new spanking teaser site for what appears to be a possible sequel to one of the biggest and loved games on the Nintendo DS, The World Ends With You.
The teaser site, image below, is counting down to an announcement and even uses the same font seen in TWEWY leading the interwebs to be ablaze with speculation and rumours everywhere. No doubt countless fans have everything crossed hoping that the long awaited sequel will finally be announced.
The address for the new website also has the word “Subaseka” in the title leading to more speculation seeing as how TWEWY was known as “Subarashiki Kono Sekai” in Japan or “It’s a Wonderful World”. The teaser also has a silhouette of the famous Shibuya skyline, not forgetting that TWEWY was set in trendy Shibuya.
You can access the site here and don’t forget to check back with Japandaman as we revealed what happens or is announced in 6 days time. Hopefully SE will have something more on these news at Tokyo Game Show. In the meantime, you can access the site here.
Famitsu magazine in Japan recently had a sit down with Tetsuya Nomura, creator of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance for the Nintendo 3DS. Seeing as how fan favourite from another Square Enix masterpiece, The World Ends With You, is in the game, Famitsu asked him if he had any plans for Neku who makes a cameo appearance. Nomura didn’t confirm or deny anything concrete but he did hint that Neku’s presence could mean that SE are working on something related. Whether it’s a direct sequel to TWEWY of possibly a remake for the 3DS with updated graphics or maybe even new features, remains to be seen.
Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance for the 3DS will be featuring Dream Eaters, little critters that you can control, who team up with Sora and Riku and fight alongside them. Using an on screen icon, you’ll be able to string together massive combos to gain the upper hand in battles which can get quite frantic in KH 3D. Using the unique AR ability of the 3DS, you’ll be able to bring these creatures into the real world and have them literally in the palm of your hand as you pet them. Check out this awesome trailer from TGS which shows the Dream Eaters and as a bonus, Neku from TWEWY is thrown in there as well. This is one game that’s looking amazing!
