Those kawaii metal rockers, BABYMETAL, have revealed they’re about to undertake a world tour soon in the coming months. Countries so far announced are Germany, UK and France but we’re hoping some are thrown into the mix very soon.
In what could be very interesting, the girls will be sharing the UK stage at the Sonisphere Festival with Metallica, Limp Bizkit and Alice In Chains.
The J-Pop Harajuku Kawaii Amabassador, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, is performing in Sydney, Australia on the 23rd of March as part of her current world tour. Japandaman HQ was lucky enough to snag a few minutes of her precious time for an interview which she graciously agreed to. Many thanks to Katey Smile for assistance with the questions, Handsome Tours and Angela Henley Publicity.
Japandaman:Are you excited to come to Australia?
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu: Yes very much! This will be my first time in Australia so I am very excited to meet local fans! I’ve never been to the Southern hemisphere so I am wondering if the climate is really opposite from what we have in Japan. Last but not least I would love to see sharks and koalas!
J:Who are your current influences?
KPP: I just love Katy Perry. Her cuteness is just perfect in every way. She is also a very humorous and kind person. Of course I respect her very much as an artist.
J:What is your favourite music video and song that you’ve released?
KPP: “Mottai-Nightland” video expresses the world of fantasy I love so much. On the other hand “Fashion Monster” is the very first video that I could express rock and the world’s quite different from the colourful popness like in other videos. Still it is very hard to pick which one is the best though.
J:What is your favourite costume that you’ve worn?
KPP: I love the Fashion Monster costume. I tend to wear quite colourful and ‘full of pop’ costumes but with Fashion Monster I wanted to challenge something rock and cool so I feel very attached to the costume.
J:Did you think you would end up being this successful when you started on You Tube?
KPP: I haven’t expected anything like this when I first uploaded the “PON PON PON” video on you tube. So I was honestly surprised to see the attention from overseas. I feel very fortunate that people find out about me on the Internet and they come see me on stage when I am touring their local cities for the first time.
J:Which artist would you like to collaborate with?
KPP: I cannot imagine to collaborate with anyone yet.
J:You have many fans that don’t speak Japanese but love your music, why do you think this is so?
KPP: I sing mostly in Japanese but the lyrics really don’t have a clear meaning. You can just enjoy the way it sounds. I think that’s why people enjoy my music even if they don’t speak Japanese or they are too young to understand the language.
J:How do you come up with the ideas for your clothes and music videos?
KPP: I get a lot of inspiration when I am going through the Internet. I pick up some pictures or videos I liked and I just talk with my stylist. Often our discussion starts with me drawing my images.
J:What else would you like to achieve through your music?
KPP: I want to achieve a lot of things through my music and fashion. Other than that I am not really interested. I just don’t want to be a jack-of-all-trades.
J:Outside of music, what’s next for you with your fashion projects?
KPP: I always want to design a costume like no one has ever seen. It is boring to keep doing the same things so I want to keep challenging new things.
Kyary, thank you so much for your time. We at Japandaman and all our readers appreciate it and wish you all the best with your world tour.
That Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is one busy little Harajuku Princess. Not content with finishing her first world tour, she’s now launched into her second world tour, but even better, she’s coming to Australia this time around.
March 23rd will see Kyary come to Sydney’s Metro Theatre with tickets still completely sold out. It’s Japan, Man!’s very own resident kawaii princess, Katey, managed to score a ticket so we can’t wait to see what she thinks of it afterwards!
J-pop electro group, Perfume have certainly been a busy trio of late and that doesn’t look like it’s going to let up anytime soon. First up is the release of a new single called “Magic of Love” which will be coming out on May 22nd. The track is also going to be used as the CM track for Kanro’s “Pure Gummy” which tells the story of a young girl thinking of her ideal way to create love.
As with what is the normal practice in Japan, the cd will be shipping in two flavours, a limited edition and a regular release. The limited edition will be shipping with a contained DVD which will have the Magic of Love music clip on it. The cd itself will come with the single, another as yet unnamed track and the instrumental versions of both tracks. Coinciding with the release of the single on the same day, Perfume will also be releasing a DVD of their first world tour concert called “Perfume WORLD TOUR 1st”. The footage for the live DVD was filmed in Singapore which was the final leg of the tour. There will also be a special making-of section outlining how the tour came to be.
And saving the best for last, Perfume have announced that they will be undertaking a 2nd world tour which will be known as the “Perfume WORLD TOUR 2nd”. On this tour, they will be stopping at Germany (July 3), UK (July 5), and France (July 7). For more info about the world tour, you can check out the official site here.
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has jetted into North America as part of her World Tour and is currently in Los Angeles. As well as her concert commitments, she also had time to fulfil a guest of honour role at a “Cool Japan” function held at the swanky residence of the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles.
Crunchyroll: Now that you are on your world tour, how would you describe your fans around the globe? What kind of people are they? Kyary Pamyu Payu: I think they are really fashionable girls all around the world who really like Harajuku.
What are some of the most memorable things that have happened on your world tour so far? Just before every gig, the audience all chants “Kyary! Kyary! Kyary!” and that’s the most memorable thing for me at the moment.
How does it feel personally when you hear that sound? I get a lot of energy from it and it makes me want to go for it.
What’s in the future for you later this year? This year, after this world tour, I’ll be working on a lot of songs. After that, hopefully I’ll do another world tour.
Do you have a message for your fans around the world? I’d like to do a 2nd and 3rd world tour and continue to be a performing artist so please everyone, support me!
And then it concluded with the interviewer receiving her business card, some people have all the luck! And below, as a bonus, you’ll find the latest GU commercial that Kyary has done.
J-Pop idol, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, is on her world tour as we speak and now we can show what lucky attendees can expect in the way of a souvenir t-shirt. Knowing what she’s about and how much pop is in her music, you’d probably be expecting something pink, yellow or some other fluffy colours?
After looking at the picture, you’d be wrong, with Kyary opting for a more metal look to her t-shirt. The picture was tweeted by Kyary herself. Who saw this design coming?
Hugely popular blogger turned J-Pop star, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, has recently embarked on her first world tour launching in Belgium on February 9th. The tour will work its way through Europe before taking in most of Asia and from there, hitting the United States.
Tokyo Hive have a listing of her tour dates but what’s really interesting for Australian fans is the section at the bottom of the tour listing where it states, “※ The dates and venues for Thailand, Australia, and Singapore have been unfixed.”
Kyary coming to Australia? Yes please, that would be fantastic seeing as how she has loads of fans Down Under.
Adding fuel to speculation is that after doing a quick search on the Ticketek page, we find the image seen below. So there isn’t a listing for her yet but the world tour is mentioned on their site.
So with any luck, Kyary will add Australia to her schedule and throw in Melbourne, Sydney and a few other cities around our fair shores. Either way, we’ll keep you posted as we’re big fans at Japandaman HQ!
