Anime & Game Ads, Akihabara April 2013

Time to hit the streets of Akihabara and see which ads are doing the rounds and in circulation around the Mecca for Otakus worldwide. Judging by how much coverage we’ve been giving it, the latest thing to be found everywhere you look is Evangelion 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo. Anime voice actress and singer, Yukari Tamura, has been hiting around town as well with her single, “Fantastic future” playing in stores.

Evangelion 3.33 Home Release Gives Look At Evangelion: Final

With the home release of the 3rd Evangelion movie, Evangelion 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo, one of the features included on the disc is a special preview of Shin Evangelion Gekijōban:||.

The special symbol at the end of the name represents the end of a musical note for repetition which gives the viewer ample time to prepare for the climax of the Rebuild series otherwise called Evangelion: Final!

Evangelion 3.33 Inspired 9 Patty Burger

Evangelion 3.33 is coming out on home DVD and Blu Ray soon in Japan prompting many collaborations and cross overs with the Evangelion franchise. But Japanese fast food chain, Lotteria, has pulled out all the stops for the latest burger inspired by the series. They have produced what would have to be a heart attack inducing burger called the “Q Dan Cheese Burger” measuring in with a mammoth 9 beef patties and matching slices of cheese.

The name is a play on words with “kyu” being 9 in Japanese transferring as the “Q” in the name. The burget goes on sale from April 24th and also comes with a Spear of Longinus fork to help you eat this monstrosity of a beef burger!

Evangelion Hooks Up With Sega & More For 3.33 Home Release

The Evangelion franchise is really turning the promotional wheels in the lead up to the home release of ‘Evangelion 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo’. We’ve already seen a few collaborations on this site and now it’s the turn of games developer and publisher, Sega, to jump into the fray.

As the Japanese release on the 24th of April draws near, we now have a new collaboration utilising the many arcades which Sega have scattered around Japan. You’ll be able to pick up a few Evangelion exclusive items such as special prizes, clear files, drinks and more.

Evangelion 3.33 Receives Home Release

Japan is only a few days away from the release of Evangelion 3.33 on April 24 for the home market on DVD and Blu Ray. The Blu Ray edition will set you back ¥6,090 while the DVD will cost ¥5,985.


No matter which edition you have your eye on, neither comes with English subtitles although a cool addition is the tokusatsu, ‘God Warrior Attacks Tokyo, which is actually an homage to the works from Studio Ghibli. The disc does come with Linear PCM 5.1 and Linear PCM 2.0 tracks with Japanese subtitles for beefy sounds.

If you’re lucky enough to purchase a first edition of the movie, you’ll be getting the OST which includes the theme track while the standard releases will ship with a box and a booklet. Included on the movie disc are the Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33 film, previews, a script, TV CM’s and a trailer

Evangelion Bodyspray Timed For Anime Home Release

And in another movie tie-in, beauty company Creer Beaute, will be joining up with cult classic anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion in releasing a new product.

That product is to be a series of body sprays for men timed to coincide with the home release of Evangelion 3.33, You Can (Not) Redo. The campaign is entitled  “COSMETIC with EVANGELION 2WAY Fragrance Mist” and will run between March 25 and April 24th home release. The campaign will entail advertising on billboards with NERV branded sprays.

There will be three different sprays, Type-R (aqua citrus), Type 01 (musk) and Type-A (red citrus) bottles for ¥1,280 ($USD13.40). The sprays will be on sale at cosmetic counters and drug stores in Japan.

Evangelion 3.0 Opening Breaks All Records In Japan

This past weekend saw the opening of the eagerly awaited and anticipated 3rd Evangelion movie, Evangelion 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. By all accounts, the opening was a runaway success breaking all box office records for an opening weekend in Japan this year.

The film took in over US$13.9 million with the film being shown on 224 screens, so in other words, everywhere, and some sessions were even starting at 6AM in the morning for the opening day! Some fans were seen exiting a screening and turning right around only to walk back in and watch it all over again. We hear it was a combination of both loving the flick and trying to work out just what the heck was going in the movie.

By all accounts, this 3rd movie looks set to go one up and better both previous movies.

New TV Spot For Evangelion 3.0 Features Unseen Footage

A new TV spot for the upcoming Evangelion 3.0 movie began airing across Japan recently. The 15 second spot for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q Quickening) also showcases previously unseen footage but at 15 seconds long, you better be quick to see it.

This third movie in the Evangelion series starts in Japanese cinemas this coming Saturday.

Evangelion 3.0 Will Receive Sneak Peek Before Launch

Anyone lucky enough to be in Japan around November 16 best tune into the Japanese television network, NTV, where you’ll be able to catch an exclusive first look at Evangelion 3.0.

Titled “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo” or Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q Quickening, the first six minutes and 38 seconds of the feature film will air one full day before the movie’s official launch in Japanese cinemas. Prior to the advance preview, the network will be airing “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance.” And one week earlier will see the screening of “Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone” on the same network.

The third film’s title has a “Q” or otherwise known as”Kyū” which is a Japanese wordplay, all the three movies feature classical movements in the movie’s subtitle. The classical movements are from traditional Japanese music referred to as gagaku and Noh.
